Visit a renovated, family-owned olive oil factory, where you can watch how this "liquid gold" was once painstakingly prepared, as well as sample its delectable olive oil products.

Visit our local farm, learn about Naxian agriculture and how to grow all the vegetables, that will be the ingredients of your meal today.

• Join a local housewife in her farm home and learn how to prepare a typical, traditional Naxian meal.

This beautiful experience will end around the Greek table enjoying the Naxian flavors you prepared.

Naxos Old Town Flavors

• Visit the traditional creamery shop, Koufopoulos, or "Tirokomia Naxou" with its traditional Greek cheeses and other products. Taste a variety of Naxian cheeses.
• Walking tour of the Venetian Castle in Naxos Town.
• Light dinner at Old Town's Oniro Restaurant, seated on its terrace boasting panoramic sunset views of the castle and the port. You'll enjoy tasting various Mediterranean dishes.
• Visit the specialty candy shop, "Naxia Sweet Home." This family-owned business produces homemade candies flavored with local sage, citron, lemon, orange, mastic, ouzo and lime chili, as well as flavors suited to young children. You can watch as some of the candy is prepared before your eyes; you'll be able to sample the fresh candies and discover your favorite flavors.
• Your afternoon walk will end with a visit to a shop called "Promponas," with its large selection of typical Naxian products. You'll taste the traditional "Naxos Citron" local liqueur from their own production, called "Citron Promponas," that is made from the pure essence of citron tree leaves.

• Today's highlight is a visit to the family-owned Kaganis Creamery. A shepherd who continues the time-honored family tradition, Yiannis and his wife produce numerous varieties of Naxos' famous cheeses. He'll teach you how to make some of these, and not only will you participate, but you'll get to taste the fruits of your labor. Your meal will be made up of a large variety of delicious and flavorful cheeses, as well as of some delectable Naxian appetizers.
• Stop at a traditional, generations' old, family-owned pottery workshop in quaint Damalas Village. Learn how artisans once crafted many of the everyday items used in the kitchens of Naxos' past. Enjoy modeling potter's clay with your bare hands, and view the shop's exposition of antique utensils.

Naxian Producers keep the tradition alive

Beyond the myths and the stories, Naxos remained one of the largest trading markets in the Cyclades due to its fertile land, which provided it with a multitude of valuable goods. Some of the most important of these were potatoes, honey, citrus, grapes, olives and cheeses.

On this tour, you will have the opportunity to learn firsthand how these products have been processed throughout the years, and also to taste unique flavors and spirits.

• Today's highlight is a visit to the family-owned Creamery. A shepherd who continues the family tradition, produces numerous of Naxos' famous cheeses. He'll teach you how to make some of these, and not only will you participate, but you'll get to taste the fruits of your labor. Your meal will be made up of a large variety of delicious and flavorful cheeses, as well as of some delectable Naxian appetizers.

Visiting a family owned, fully restored old Olive Oil Factory, we will be guided to the part of its museum to learn how this "Liquid Gold", once painstakingly prepared, as well as sample its delectable olive oil products.

Our last stop for the day is going to be an authentic biological honey producing farm. We will be introduced to the majestic world of the Bee community and wonder through the movement and the patterns, those small unrested workers create all day long. We will have the opportunity to learn first hand all about the bees life and purpose, as well as to watch how they interact with each other and the Queen. Of course it wouldn't be a complete experience if we didn't try some local sweet snack, made by Honey, Naxos BIO Honey.

According to myths and history, Naxos became one of the largest trading markets in the Cyclades due to its fertile land, which provided it with a multitude of valuable goods. Three of the most important of these were citrus, grapes and olives.

On this tour, you will have the opportunity to learn first hand how our products have been processed throughout the years, and also to taste unique flavors and spirits.

After a short drive we arrive at a beautiful farm where our journey through Culture and History will take place.

We will visit the Distillery, with 106 years of history, where the 4th generation of producers will host us and explain to us all about the production of the Naxian liqueur "Kitro", Raki, Wine,Ouzo and many more. All drinks will be accompanied by local "mezes".

Then we visit a family owned, fully restored old Olive Oil Press, where we will be guided to the museum part to learn how this "Liquid Gold", once painstakingly prepared, as well as sample its delectable olive oil products.

The habits of the ancient Greeks were not based on speed and saving time like modern man, but resulted from a deep and detailed study of the needs of the body and spirit. Their diet, which formed an important part of their philosophical outlook, obeyed rules that combined pleasure with well-being.

It is significant that the ancients only ate with company, especially at dinner time, as food was a way of socializing that was closely linked to the culinary philosophy of the time.

The mainland of Naxos island has lush greenery, is picturesque, peaceful and traditional. Its mountainous villages with labyrinthine alleys and arches, medieval towers, and cool squares with plane trees and traditional cafes await visitors who want to discover the authentic side of the island.

Αnd what could be a better setting for our tour of the flavors of the island tonight :

Apiranthos village, the marble village, the most mountainous, built at 600m. altitude, will be the stop for our appetizers.

At a local tavern we will taste Naxian meze accompanied with Greek Ouzo or WIne.

Filoti village, the largest in Cyclades, will be the next stop for our dinner.

As in several rural areas in Greece, in Filoti heart lies the main square. Underneath the sprawled branches of an imposing old Platanos tree we will dine in a restaurant of the paved square.

Quality ingredients, more creative than a typical taverna, well presented, accompanied with Naxian wine.

And then, Chalki village in the heart of our olive groves, the old commercial capital of the island, will be our final stop for dessert.

Famous Greek Spoon Sweets, Galaktoboureko or orange pie will be the closing of an unforgettable Greek Night

In Hellas appropriate closure is a digestive drink, to us Naxians this is Kitron liqueur.
