1STGenerations' old pottery workshop in Damalas Village

3RD Olive oil press visit, where you can watch how this "liquid gold" was once painstakingly prepared, as well as sample its delectable olive oil products

4THFiloti village, the largest in Cyclades with the most renowned church of the district and exquisite carved details. In front of the church lies the Ecclesiastic and Folklore Museum of Filoti. Fasolas Old Market revives artisan's stores that have disappeared nowadays.

1stHistory comes alive at the ancient temple of Demetra, in Sagri Village, dated 530 BC, and dedicated to the goddess of agriculture. Built on the edge of a fertile Naxian valley, as the first Greek temple constructed entirely of marble (its roof as well), it's of even greater historical importance.

( *Tuesdays Temple of Demetra is closed. The site will be replaced with the statue of Kouros in Frerio )

2nd Be charmed by Chalki Village, where after a pleasant stroll, visit the hundred-year-old family distillery, which still produces Naxos' well-known KITRON liqueur.

3rdThe traditional and picturesque, marble mountain village of Apeiranthos is next, where you will enjoy sauntering along its winding paths, admiring its charm. The views from nearby Stavros will offer you the island's unique view of both its east and west sides, simultaneously.

4thHistoric Koronos Village, once world-famous for its abundantly productive, highest quality, emery mines. At this traditional mountain village, you'll savor a fresh and delicious, homemade lunch at a characteristic, family-owned taverna; the meal is prepared almost entirely of their homegrown, raised and produced, products. And virtually ten steps from your table, you can drink from a mountain spring!

5thVisit a renovated, family-owned olive oil mill, where you can watch how this "liquid gold" was once painstakingly prepared, as well as sample its delectable olive oil products.

Description :

Walking along the seafront street of the port we will visit the old town of Naxos island.

The Portara, the big door, at the entrance of the port, the only ruin from an unfinished archaic temple, stands there defiantly through the centuries and invites us to get to know the historical part of the city of Naxos.

The labyrinthine narrows will lead us to the castle of Markos Sanoudos, Venetian leader for five centuries on the island.

On the way on a short stop, we will have the opportunity to taste a variety of local cheeses along with the finest Naxian wine.

Naxos, as a fertile and gifted place, has to offer many local foods, based on recipes that come from the past.

Our meal in a local restaurant, will let us taste different dishes and understand why Mediterranean diet is and has always been the healthiest in the world

Our walk will end up with a visit to the traditional liqueur store. We will taste the "Naxos Citron'' local liqueur.

With passion, love and dedication to tradition,they create the local drink of Naxos "Citron" that consists of citron tree leaves with pure essence.

We provide different itineraries depending on clients skills and hours they want to spend.

Explore hiking and trekking on Naxos Island. The island features a network of footpaths that measure hundreds of kilometers in total length.

These natural trails once constituted the main means of access and transportation from one village to another, and from the settlements to the fields and other farming areas from antiquity to the late 1960's.

Of these walking trails and rural tracks on Naxos Island, we propose seven specific routes, which have also been set on map.

By exploring this network of trails of cultural interest –which will be updated and extended- trekkers will have the opportunity to admire an environment of particular natural beauty and acquaint themselves with the island's history and culture.

The proposed routes offer direct access to ancient monuments, medieval towers, traditional farmsteads, monasteries, churches and chapels but also to water fonts and mills providing insight to various aspects of the life of the people of Naxos.
